Our Vision

Heavy Industries, such as mining, oil & gas or heavy construction, have shared a number of significant trends over the past ten years. These include:

  • Significant number of professionals on the verge of retiring causing a brain drain on the industry
  • Significant new opportunities created by creation of new cities in China, India and other emerging nations
  • Increasingly complex environmental and political concerns spurred by community concerns about industrial impacts
  • An influx of new entrants into the professional ranks spurred by the sense of new economic opportunity
  • Increasingly mobile workforce that has created growing turnover and a lack of institutional memory within organizations
  • New communications technologies created by the Internet which have changed how other industries do business are starting to infiltrate
  • Proliferation of new suppliers and lack of awareness of the services that they provide

Heavy Industries Networks is a leader in helping professionals cope with these changes. Our goal is to create online communities which enable participants in the industry to deal with these issues. We also realize that while the heavy industries share many things in common they also have there own particular issues and culture. We have created communities for several heavy industries. Our goal is to enable professionals to use the latest internet technologies to achieve their professional goals but remain in the context of their industry. Our industry professionals use their community sites to look for new products, suppliers and to stay on top of the latest industry events and news.

We also understand that many suppliers also service several different verticals within the heavy industries. For instance, a manufacturer of industrial crushers may service the mining, oil & gas and heavy construction industries. Sometimes it is challenging for these suppliers to find new business. The Enhanced Buyer Qualification System (EBQS) enables suppliers to target professionals across several verticals in the heavy industries at the point that these professionals are researching products or suppliers. We have created a set of directories within these communities that are focused around specific products or services. The EBQS enables the industry professional to see what the supplier has to offer within the context of the research that they are doing. This creates a win-win in that the industry professional finds a supplier for a much needed service and the supplier gets a highly qualified lead.
